The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott Review

Let me just say I gave this book five out of five stars.

Here’s why. When you take on a popular subject like the sinking of the Titanic, it can be very risky. We all know what happened and have even seen the movie. What we don’t know is the story that Alcott weaves for us. The story follows a young woman, Tess Collins, who has begged her way onto the Titanic as a maid for a popular fashion designer. The ship had already sunk before I was one quarter of the way through the book. The rest was all about rebuilding lives and following the different paths they lead.

I was intrigued by this story. It was very well written and kept my attention to the very last word.

I highly recommend this book. It was an engaging piece of literary fiction.
