I come to Alexandria, Virginia a couple of times a year for meetings. I’m on the National Professional Council for United Ways. I fly in, go straight to the hotel and meeting room and fly back home.
This trip, however, a colleague/friend and I decided we had a little extra time and we should take advantage of it. A former colleague still lives here and we asked him to play tour guide. We had perfect weather (mid 50s), and took time to see several of the memorials. I was especially happy to see the Lincoln Memorial on Lincoln’s birthday. The Reflecting Pool couldn’t be any more perfect.
Today I’m thankful that I made time to play tourist. I’m thankful that my job gives me the opportunity to do things like that occasionally. I’m thankful for colleagues to join me. And I’m thankful for great weather on the day we were able to do it.
