Not just a one day event, I'm blogging every day about what I'm thankful for

I just read Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. I’m really not going to review the book – I rarely read nonfiction. But if you are woman, you should read this book. If you are a man, you should read this book.

I remember being in college in the 70’s a few years ago and thinking that women could conquer the world. Then reality hit when I entered the work force. It was still definitely a man’s world. And 40+ a few years later, it still is. Especially in small town rural America. It is always a struggle. Women are still paid less than men with the same qualifications and the same positions. I just hope it gets better for my daughter. And future generations.

This book was really good to read – and it is nice to hear that it is still a struggle for women in executive management positions. Well, not nice to know. Just nice to know that we are in it together.

Really, if you are a woman, you need to read this book. And if you are a man, you need to read this book. We need to do what we can to change attitudes, little by little.

I’m thankful today for the changes that began many years ago. And I’m thankful that they are still moving forward (even if it is a glacial pace).
