Not just a one day event, I'm blogging every day about what I'm thankful for

It was supposed to rain today…and it did in the wee hours of the morning for a little bit. Instead it has been dark, cloudy, dreary and gloomy. Kinda fit with my mood. Or maybe my mood fit with the weather. Either way, I was having a less than stellar day.

Until…

I was out mailing a package and ran into someone who lifted my spirits. We talked about how busy we both were…how we needed to go have margaritas…how to avoid burnout…and then she said the magic words. She went on and on about how she thought I did such a great job in the community and how much she admires me.

Wow! That made me stand up a little taller and put a smile back on my face. Since she is someone who can talk and talk and talk and talk, and I was in a hurry, I dreaded stopping to chat. But what a mood lifter.

The second mood lifter was the grungy looking middle aged man wearing really baggy angry birds pajamas at WalMart today. I actually looked around for a film crew for one of those crazy WalMart shopper things. Do people not look in the mirror when they leave their houses? And I worry if I don’t have jewelry on when I go to WalMart.

I’m thankful that I know how to present myself in public. I’m thankful for the kind words of an acquaintance. I’m thankful I didn’t get rained on running into WalMart today.

  1. It seems some Walmart customers have a ‘wear what you want’ mindset. I remember seeing some really odd outfits when I went shopping there in Florida. Pajamas were common and so were swimsuits, especially bikinis. Best one was a woman in sweatpants and a corset.

  2. Reblogged this on By the Mighty Mumford and commented:
    I’VE MET—OR BEEN—THIS KIND OF PEOPLE…YOU, TOO???
