Not just a one day event, I'm blogging every day about what I'm thankful for

Catch up

I haven’t blogged in quite awhile. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t had plenty to be thankful for. Quite the contrary. In no particular order:

We haven’t had the weather we had last year. It’s still not summer, but at least we aren’t neck deep in snow or bitter temps.

My dad finally got approved for Medicaid. That was a weight lifted. His house didn’t sell at auction so it’s just listed on the regular market. I need to paint a few rooms. I’m figuring I will lose my entire vacation painting but I really must get it sold.

Dad doesn’t want to go out on Christmas. How is that something to be thankful for? It means I don’t have to spend Christmas with my sister! Mostly her in laws. I will have lunch with dad at the nursing home. I’ve already reserved a room for that purpose.

Dad turns 80 on January 3. We are having a birthday party for him then and my daughter and grandson will be home. Yay!

My staff Christmas party was tonight. I always have them over to my house. I cook. I usually try and do something special. Since I hate to cook I went with easy instead this year. Crockpot chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes and yeast rolls. It was good enough that people took seconds. I am blessed to have a great staff. They make my life so much easier

I found health insurance that will save me over $10,000 a year. I know not everyone is happy about the ACA but it has been a big deal for me. With my MS I haven’t been able to shop around or even get insurance. Plus the cost was nearly prohibitive. So, yeah, this is a big deal for me.

I think that’s enough for now. Back to my crazy busy insane world.

  1. Dad seems to have found a comfort zone and for that you can both be grateful. This is all good news. I know the health insurance is a great thing. Greg and I will be struggling with that when he retires in a few years. Hoping for a good year for you and that the house sells soon. Things are turning around here in Florida and people are spending more. We’ve moved a few items in a couple of weeks that we’ve been trying to move for two years.

  2. Congrats on the insurance wins.

  3. Yay on all! Glad your dad got approved, I know that has been a source of stress. VERY glad about your insurance find – that is huge! I remember last year when your served lasagne for your co-workers, sounds like whatever you serve, they like and appreciate. 🙂 Don’t forget to rest.

  4. Insurance win is big. Well done.
